Elementary Enrichment Program

Type I:

Schoolwide Enrichment: Events that involve the entire school such as Young Authors, Art Festival, Math Fair, etc. Noon Enrichment provides guest speakers to small groups of interested students on various topics.

Push-ins: The enrichment specialist comes into classrooms by teacher invitation for a whole class enrichment activity.

Multiple Intelligences
Math Problem Solving
Improvisation

Poetry

Type II:

Talent Groups: Talent groups are composed of students who are referred to the enrichment specialist based on a demonstrated talent in a particular area such as math or reading, science or art.

Types of classes that may be offered in a building based on staff input:

Art
Drama
Architecture
Mock Trial
Math Units: Problem Solving, Stock Market, Probability, Geometry, etc.
Literacy Units: Junior Great books, Storytelling, Writing, Poetry, etc.
Science Units; Chemistry, Models & Designs, Variables, Private Eye, etc.

Type III:

Newsroom: An environment that facilitates self-directed learning projects for identified students and teacher-referred students.  Examples:

        Community Problem Solving

        Lewis & Clark Expedition

        Museum

        Renaissance


Studio: An inquiry-based environment that supports identified students in math/science activities or visual/spatial skills.  Examples:

        Art

        Architecture

        Science

        Geometry

        Origami

        Chess and Strategy Games
