Nestled
on the shores of the mighty Columbia River, the Wenatchee Valley, with
its relaxed lifestyles and all-season range of activities, is quickly
becoming a most desirable place to live, work, and play. Located in the
geographical center of Washington state, approximately 140 miles east
of Seattle, Wenatchee has a population of some 30,000. The surrounding
area brings that total to approximately 70,000.
Wenatchee
is a leader in the fruit industry and produces thousands of boxes of fruit
each year, which are marketed nationally and internationally. In addition,
wheat and cattle are large farming industries.
The
Wenatchee Valley--with four distinct seasons and a semi-arid climate
averaging
300 days of sunshine a year--is a mecca for numerous outdoor activities.
Surrounded by the Wenatchee National Forest and situated on the east
slopes
of the Cascade Mountains, our valley is located in an outdoor sportsman's
paradise. Wenatchee is just 15 minutes from Mission Ridge, a skiing
area
of more than 2,500 acres, with gentle runs and steep inclines, ranging
from 4,600 to 6,700 feet. Hiking, biking, camping, mountain and rock
climbing,
fishing, and hunting are all available within minutes. Other popular
local favorites include golf at one of the seven nearby courses, whitewater
rafting or float trips on the Wenatchee River, and boating and waterskiing
on the Columbia.
Art
galleries and dramatic and musical presentations are abundant throughout
the valley to satisfy cultural interests.
