The WSD Professional Development format is flexible enough to meet unique building
or department needs and differentiated instruction.
- Designate 2
days per month focused on technology in each building w/TRT(s)
released and/or a floating sub to work with teachers in Module
I & II and/ or time sheet after school using technology grant
and/or Tech Levy funds

MODULE
I: Core Concepts & Skills
- I know how to
use pull-down/pop-up menus as well as how to switch between several
open windows.
- I know how to
'find' a saved file.
- I can troubleshoot
basic things before asking for help; such as, making sure the power
is on for the machine and monitor, or ejecting a floppy disk or
CD.
- I know how to
make a duplicate of an existing file.
- I know how to
determine where a file will be saved.
- I am able to
select, copy, and paste text.
- I can create
shortcut/alias icons.
- I know how to
install software from a CD ROM or set of floppy disks.
- I use proofing
tools (i.e., spell check, grammar check, etc.), find and replace
within a document and know how to save a document in other file
formats.

choose a printer on the network.

back up a file to a server.

Word
Processing
- I can open,
edit , preview, save, and print a document.
- I can create
a basic document and apply text and style elements, such as changing
fonts and applying bold, italic, or underline formatting.
- I can apply
document formatting, such as changing margins, setting tabs, and
aligning text.
- I can insert
clipart, charts, WordArt, and images into a document.
- I can design
and create a document using columns and tables.
- I can save word
processing documents in other file formats (i.e., RTF, TXT, HTML,
templates, stationery, etc.)
- I can adjust
text around an image using the wrap feature.
- I can adjust
text flow by inserting column or page breaks.
- I can organize
my document by creating page breaks, headers, footers, and a table
of contents.
Internet
Skills

access e-mail from work or home.

receive, and open e-mail attachments.

to subscribe to and unsubscribe from a listserv/distribution list.

to enter a website address in a web browser to access a specific
site.

use search engines such as Yahoo, AltaVista, Google, and Northern
Light.

save and edit bookmarks.
- I can recognize
propaganda, a hoax, or flawed logic from an Internet source.
- I recognize
and can take action in dealing with Internet risks, such as viruses.

copyright laws and citation rules related to Internet resources.
