Director of Operational Technology, Dave Yancey
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Organizational Development

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent of Operations Summary Job Description: Provide support for the coordination, installation and maintenance of technology including computer network services throughout the Wenatchee School District Major Responsibilities:
  • Design, maintenance and upgrading of local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) systems
  • Coordinate the maintenance and upgrading of: Electronic mail systems, Library Automation Servers and caching servers at all designated locations
  • Coordinate the support and performance analysis for all local and wide area network systems, including site labs, file servers, library media centers and other network dependent installations
  • Coordination of network services and resources on a day-to-day basis including e-mail administration, inter-district file transfers, security testing, filters, and traffic monitoring
  • Coordinate Internet services including server design and security, home page design, resource filtering, domain name serving, electronic mail and remote site/database links
  • Recommend and coordinate the purchase of network related software and hardware as needed
  • Coordination of the records of network design, inventory, and status
  • Represent the district as the liaison, service and support contact for Data ITU for K-20
  • Maintain Regular communication with key groups utilizing network services and hardware via meetings, print materials or electronic mail including: Deputy Superintendent, Operational Division Directors, Instructional Technology Coordinator, Technical Support Staff and when applicable Building Administrators, Library Media Specialists and Technology Resource Teachers
  • Coordinate training related to: 1) Network services; 2) Technical training for other technical support providers
  • Design and coordinate a comprehensive technology refresh and recycle program
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Operations

Computer Tech, Craig Stewart
Accountable To: Director of Operational Technology

Summary Job Goal: Under the direction of the Operational Technology Coordinator, repair and maintain microcomputers, related peripheral devices, and the required software to insure their interface used in the educational environment

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain microcomputers, related peripheral devices (printers, external hard drives, DVD/CD-ROM players, scanners, etc.)
  • Develop and implement an on-going program of preventive maintenance for district computer hardware
  • Configure and install microcomputer hardware and peripherals at various sites through the school district
  • Research and do cost estimate of computer components used in the school district (Manage Apple Order service)
  • Upgrade computer hardware as performance needs change
  • Provide technical assistance in the use and operation of computer equipment to staff members within the school district
  • Maintain parts inventory
  • Assist other personnel and staff members as required
  • Assist with help desk support
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operational Technology Coordinator

Digital AV/Electronics Tech, Karl Ohler
Accountable To: Director of Operational Technology

Summary Job Goal: Under the direction of the Operational technology Coordinator, provide full support, repair, and record tracking of digital telephone systems, video-conferencing, security and fire alarm systems, visual learning systems. Secondary support for other electromechanical devices as required when no other support available.

Performance Responsibilities (Technology)

  • Provide installation, maintenance, repair, and programming of district digital telephone systems, including all modular associated subsystems (voicemail, digital trunking, e911)
  • K-20 Video Institutional Technical Unit (VITU) installation, configuration and support for all videoconferencing through ISDN and TCP/IP
  • Provide full support for the integration and servicing of the following:
    • Non-contracted security and alarm systems, to include infrastructure planning, programming, passive and active device service and troubleshooting
    • Coordination and quality control/quality assurance of contracted security and fire alarm systems
  • Full maintenance and support of district visual learning systems to include:
    • Television
    • VCR and video disk
    • LCD projectors
    • Digital video movie and still cameras and recorders
    • Digital satellite systems
    • Other standardized systems as specified
  • Maintain critical parts inventory and research capabilities
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operational Technology Coordinator

Secondary Performance Responsibilities (Trades), to provide guidance to Trades Assistant for the following areas:

  • General repair for clocks, scoreboards, and bells
  • Install and repair/maintain wireless audio systems and public address
  • Assist in the installation and repair of climate controllers
  • Repair and maintenance of general business office machinery
  • Repair and maintenance of mechanical projectors, overheads, and media center electromechanical devices
  • Maintain a lamp and parts inventory

LAN/Windows Support Technician, Mark Hetterscheidt
Accountable To: Director of Operational Technology

Summary Job Goal: Under the direction of the Operational Technology Coordinator, provide Layer 2 and below network supported services as defined: Installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair of all physical layer networking Installation and configuration of Layer 2 network switches and hubs, bridging, wireless devices, network interface cards, and network configurable devices, preparation of all schematics and required records therein, and help desk communications

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Provide cable backbone installations between and within district buildings
  • Provide cable additions and extensions and upgrading cable to district standards
  • Provide network jack installation and termination from the jack to the punch down block and interfacing with LAN hardware design
  • Provide installation, upgrade, and support of all LAN hardware to include all switches and hubs (managed and unmanaged) and network interface cards to all devices requiring such service
  • Provide direct technical support for LAN problem resolution at building level
  • Assist with computer workstation upgrading and maintenance
  • Maintain accurate records of design, modifications, and topology diagrams
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all LAN hardware in MDF, IDF, and associated network closet areas
  • Assist with installation and upgrading of building digital phone systems
  • Assist with help desk support
  • Related duties as assigned by Operational Technology Coordinator

Technical Support Specialist, Jim Tweden
Accountable to: Director of Operational Technology

Summary Job Description: Installs and supports computers with district standard software and operating systems while providing first responder troubleshooting in support of the mission of the Wenatchee School District

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Setup and configure new or reallocated computer hardware, printers and associated peripherals into areas of assigned responsibility
  • Install/reinstall and configure software according to WSD software standards
  • Maintain/troubleshoot existing computers, printers and associated peripherals in accordance with WSD hardware standards
  • Maintain database of assigned computer systems, printers and peripherals serial numbers and location for inventory in assigned area
  • Maintain database of specifications of installed systems, assigned TCP/IP numbers
  • Provide technical assistance in the use and operation of installed hardware to staff
  • Assist other computer specialists as required
  • Perform related duties as required
  • Provide Tier 2 support in all areas

Web Design/Electronic Document Control Specialist, Laurie Hunter
Accountable to: Director of Operational Technology

Summary Job Description: Develop and maintain district level web design and on-line electronic document control. Prepares web graphics, assist in the creation HTML newsletters, electronic communication, and assists users with web page design. The specialist is also responsible for quality management of inbound document control requests.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • District Level Web Design/Updates
    Collaborate with district departments for design layouts.
    Update web site as required.
    Train departmental users who update directly
  • Online Document Control
    Posting/uploading forms for access (links to web design).
    POC for district-wide stationary and business card ordering.
    Maintain records of all jobs and transactions
    Manage electronic file access
    Determine job requirement for in-house and outsourced needs.
  • Desktop Publishing/Design
    Assist in form design as requested by administration and staff.
    Proof work for accuracy and layout prior to publication.
  • Other duties as assigned.
